Did your mom smoke when you were in?

Many women don’t take their doctor’s advice seriously and continue to smoke in their pregnancy. Common problems that occur if  the mother smokes or gets exposed to some other individuals regular smoking during pregnancy are miscarriage, sudden death of an infant (called SIDS), baby born with low birth weight etc. Now the list of health side effects seem to be increasing and according to a new finding the effects of smoking in pregnancy can be seen even in our adolescence.

Many teens today have hearing loss (may be in small amount) which may be due to their mothers smoking habit when they were in the womb. Smoking by mothers may cause some amount of hearing loss to their child in their adolescence. For those who are already affected by such hearing loss, probably the events can’t be reversed in their life time but those who are pregnant now or planning to get pregnant in future can surely take concrete steps to avoid all sort of smoke exposure to the life they are carrying in their womb.

We can try to do our best as humans to safeguard our future generations by little bit of discipline and access to appropriate health informations. Therefore a pregnancy should always be guided by a certified doctor and adhering to their advice.
