ECG basics in nutshell

Before you start reading an ECG (EKG) it’s important that you have some idea : about the basics of ECG/EKG.

  1. An ecg paper is made of multiple small boxes and this small boxes gather to form big boxes.
  2. Length of each small box is 1 mm
  3. Length of each big box is 5 mm
  4. Each small box is equal to 0.04 sec
  5. Each big box is equal to 0.04 x 5= 0.2 sec
  6. Finally, the speed of the ecg recording – 25mm / sec
