Why various injections to babies and children are given at the lateral aspect of thigh?

Various pediatric injections which are given in muscle (ie intramuscularly). Some common ones are vitamin k injection, various injectable vaccines like injectable polio vaccine, epinephrine injection etc. A common site where intramuscular injections are given is the lateral part (ie the outer part) of the thighs. But have you ever wondered why this particular site is preferred for intramuscular injections.

The answer is as following – -Lateral part of the thigh is highly vascular and rich in blood supply. So the systemic absorption from this site is rapid and rich. Henceforth, lateral part of the thigh is preferred for intramuscular injections.
