ECG: how to determine left and right axis deviation?

First let’s revise the basics of ECG related to axis deviation :

    • Normal if QRS complexes positive deflection in lead I or II
    • Lead I is 0 degree and lead II is +60 degree
    • Normal cardiac axis lies between -30 deg to 90 deg
    • Deflection moves towards the positive direction.
    • In a normal ECG with no axis deviation in both lead I and II QRS complexes have positive deflection that is to an upward direction.

To determine axis deviation remember that you need primarily information of lead I and lead II only, and forget the rest.

Now if QRS complex in lead I and II are negative and positive respectively what will be the axis deviation – right or left?

Answer: as we said do determine axis deviation we need to move towards a positive direction, here we will move from lead I to lead II i.e. from 0 degree to +60 degree. Since this is a clockwise movement towards the right side this is a right axis deviation (RAD).

If QRS complex in lead II and I are negative and positive respectively what will be the axis deviation – right or left?

Answer: as we said do determine axis deviation we need to move towards a positive direction, here we will move from lead II to lead I i.e. from +60 degree to 0 degree. Since this is an anti-clockwise movement towards the left side this is a left axis deviation (LAD).

How to view Gmail emails in a preview pane in a browser on pc or mac?

If you prefer to read emails in a browser on your pc or mac, a preview pane at the right or beneath the emails you might need to do the following steps to enable this function.

    1. After opening your Gmail email account click on the ’Settings’ option at the right a wheel type icon

    2. From the drop-down menu click on ‘Settings’

    3. Once the setting’s pane opens click on ‘Labs’

    4. There you will get a search option in which you may type ’preview pane’

    5. Then a lab feature for previewing email in the right pane should be available and enabling it should suffice to enable email display in right preview pane in your inbox

    6. Make sure you save your changes before you leave the lab feature after enabling it

    Now return to your inbox.

A small button will now be available beside the settings wheel type icon and by clicking it you can choose a view of your choice either to see emails at the right or bottom as you wish. Not only for inbox, the feature generally gets enabled for your folders like junk, sent, draft etc.

How to use right click function by Chromebook pc’s touch pad?

When a regular windows user switches to a Chromebook one problem he might find is, with right clicking function of its touch pad because no such feature is present there (as in my Chromebook too). So here is the solution for it.

Actually, right clicking in touch pad of Chromebook can be done in 2 ways.

First, is to tap gently with two fingers slightly apart, and the function that you expect from the right click will become evident. The biggest demerit of this process is sometimes the touch pad might not appreciate the pressure and you might require repeated similar strokes, and that probably holds true for other windows based laptops too.

The second way is a more stable path in my view. In this, one has to simply click (press to click) on the touch-pad with 2 fingers instead of tapping. It seems, clicks are better perceived than gentle taps and the right click function is easily obtained by clicking by pressing with 2 fingers. Unlike, regular mouses or touch pads you don´t need to think of left or right click feature, simply the no. of fingers you use will dictate your instruction to the Chromebook. When using a single finger, its like the left click and and 2 fingers will count for right click.
